Embark on a Memorable Kayaking Journey
Our vibrant kayaking adventure begins with a brief lesson, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the experience efficiently and with wide smiles. Led by friendly, qualified sea kayak guides, our tour features frequent stops to appreciate nature’s beauty both on land and at sea. Throughout the journey, we paddle approximately 7-11 kilometers, adjusting our pace and distance based on the group’s preferences.
Highlights:
1. Historic ‘Menqa’ Launch: Our adventure sets off from the historic ‘Menqa,’ a sheltered area that has safeguarded fishermen’s boats from fierce winter storms for generations.
2. Rdum il-Biez Bay: After a scenic 20-minute crossing, we arrive at Rdum il-Biez bay, where crystal-clear blue waters and a striking vertical cave await—an ideal spot for Instagram-worthy photos.
3. Secluded Coastlines: As we paddle past St. Paul’s Island, we embrace the secluded and pristine coastlines along Selmun and Mgiebah. These protected areas boast former salt pens, pebbly beaches, clay cliffs, Mediterranean greenery, and intriguing remnants from WW2.
4. Clay Baths and Culinary Delights: Discover remote small beaches, often enjoying them in solitude. One of the bays even offers a complimentary clay bath to rejuvenate our skin. Plus, savor the flavors of the included homemade Maltese ftira—a traditional bread stuffed with tuna, tomato paste, olives, and other Mediterranean delights. Fresh seasonal fruits served by our leader recharge both body and mind.
5. St. Paul’s Island: We’ll visit the protected St. Paul’s Island—a tiny secluded isle measuring 900 meters long. Home to hundreds of seagulls and shearwater birds, the island features an ancient 7-meter-high statue celebrating St. Paul the Apostle, who shipwrecked here 2000 years ago, introducing Christianity to Malta.
6. Refreshing Swims: Participants receive goggles (without snorkels) for refreshing exploratory swims in the clear Mediterranean waters. Snorkelling and swimming are unsupervised activities during the tour.Optional Explorations: Depending on the group’s paddling abilities, we may explore two additional caves or a tiny window cut through the rocks either at the start or end of the kayak tour.
Note: The route we take may vary based on prevailing weather and sea conditions, it will be calibrated to match the abilities and aspirations of our participants.
